Israel real very early on implemented strict measures, a lot of quarintine and isolation.

I would also say that the country is more prepared for this type of things given the drills for terror attacks etc.

IMHO sun/vitamin D/weather play a role in overall health and immune system. If people are healthier with proper levels of vitamin D (which usually help preventing getting sick, but with COVID-19 not helping nearly as much) it still helps in making the symptoms lighter. This is in addition to what you said, and
Who am I to know but maybe R Chaim is right? Maybe because they keep on learning and all it Torah Mangneh Umatzlah?

So you heard from someone in the family that they were told that? I'm trying to figure out how many times you are removed from the person who (you claim) was actually told that in the hospital. By every account...even in the worst hospital Elmhurst...everyone that needs a vent is getting it. No age limitations.
The frightening thing is that so many are dying despite no shortage of medical care. Forget about social distancing, flattening the curve, not overwhelming the medical system. These deaths were not preventable.
If you don't care why would you comment?

My grandmother was 82. She was kicked out of the hospital (Maimonides) Thursday to rehab because she was “getting better”. Heart stopped right before Shabbos.

A mechutan’s father in his 80s was rushed to a hospital in Brooklyn on Thursday, but was told there are no more ventilators. Was brought to another hospital, same story. He died shortly after. Name is Rabinowitz. Not sure which hospitals. Heard from an immediate family member.

My grandfather had a similar story a few years ago, but who knows.

I didn't mean in terms of cautining. I meant that the frum people there don't get it how serious it is, like we didn't get it just 2 weeks ago. Although they had strict official rules, people even as we speak don't get it. Most places I know of have Minyen and Mikvah open. And the situation there is way better. Who am I to know but maybe R Chaim is right? Maybe because they keep on learning and all it Torah Mangneh Umatzlah?

I am saying I hope they don't end up looking like we do....

In my community in Haifa there are dozens and dozens of minyanim. Each street has a minyan with sefrai torah.  They are being held with all the rules that the Govt has given. I do not understand the lack of minyanim in the US. Why cant people just keep to the rules of 2 meter and 10 people gathering.

An article about Holy name hospital a few weeks ago, they said they had a patient that recovered and they were ready to release. They saw one minor thing so they decided to wait an extra hour or 2. Well within a couple hours the person was in terrible shape and worse than ever before. It’s a frightening illness.

Are we still in the good news thread?

Rabbi Plutchok was being treated, responding well, and was released from the hospital. A day or two later he suddenly turned critical and was niftar the following morning.

They started before the US, but they locked things down very quickly.
According to https://www.worldometers.info/coronavirus/
Israel got its 1st case exactly a month after the USA

Oy. This is part of what makes COVID-19 such a scary disease.

This is the good news thread? :o

The problem with this thread is that a lot of the good news is easy to doubt or disprove, and so that's what ends up happening. How do we keep it just positive?

I am also to blame sometimes I forget what thread I’m in.

Per Doctor doing rounds this morning there are enough ventilators at this time in Maimonides.

https://forbetterscience.com/2020/03/26/chloroquine-genius-didier-raoult-to-save-the-world-from-covid-19/

wish it was true but this guy is a wackadoodle and plenty of fraud in other papers of his.
also, it was such a bad study and like 3 of the treated pts crashed and had to go to the ICU, but conveniently they were removed from the "treated" group so they can still have 100% success.

unlikely to even work as prophylaxis, plenty of ppl on this drug for rheumatoid arthritis and lupus are still coming into the hospitals with covid
