What’s it like? What does she have to do? How frequently?

Bottom line, is this more of a proof-of-concept on a small scale, or does this potentially scale up?

After the initial blood test to determine eligibility, it’s a 90 minutes process where they hook you up to a machine that draws your blood, separates the platelets (antibodies) and reinserts the blood to donor.

Some slightly good news- Italy now officially appears to be on the downswing in terms of new cases and continues to look like it will follow the mathematical progression seen in China's numbers, which would mean that within a couple of weeks or less the number of new cases will shrink to almost none. By end of day today Spain will take Italy's spot as #2 in the world. The USA is only approximately 11 days behind Italy.

Of course, the US is a big place so that just applies to the NY epicenter. Other regions might be spared altogether or might just break out later.

When did she contact them? My wife, who had a positive test already almost 2 weeks ago, contacted them more than a week ago, filled out the survey they sent, and heard nothing back yet.

Have they already taken the blood test to see if the body has antibodies? Or they just put her on the list?

4. Mortality

The fear of a rise in the death rate in Germany (currently 0.55 percent) is currently the subject of particularly intense media attention. Many people are worried that it could shoot up like in Italy (10 percent) and Spain (7 percent) if action is not taken in time.

At the same time, the mistake is being made worldwide to report virus-related deaths as soon as it is established that the virus was present at the time of death – regardless of other factors. This violates a basic principle of infectiology: only when it is certain that an agent has played a significant role in the disease or death may a diagnosis be made. The Association of the Scientific Medical Societies of Germany expressly writes in its guidelines: „In addition to the cause of death, a causal chain must be stated, with the corresponding underlying disease in third place on the death certificate. Occasionally, four-linked causal chains must also be stated.“ [6]

At present there is no official information on whether, at least in retrospect, more critical analyses of medical records have been undertaken to determine how many deaths were actually caused by the virus.

My question: Has Germany simply followed this trend of a COVID-19 general suspicion? And: is it intended to continue this categorisation uncritically as in other countries? How, then, is a distinction to be made between genuine corona-related deaths and accidental virus presence at the time of death?

My understanding is Germany figures only include direct deaths, part of the reason for the lower rate

I think this is the biggest problelm with Israels numbers. There were so many 90+ year olds that were niftar and those even between 60-90 that were niftar BUT almost all had, not "other underlying symptoms" but severe and miltiple underlying symptoms. Why are these people counted in the total number of dead?  If you take those out you are looking at a death toll that is .1-.2%!!

Germany's numbers jumped today, anyway, so their rate is going up. As I understand it, every countries numbers are under-reported, and each country (and sometimes states/provinces/regions within those countries) have their own little details as to how the classify the cause of death.

There are other places in NYC looking for this, I've seen one circulating.
