.26% death rate

If that's the case, then 28K deaths in NY means nearly 11 million infections!?!? which should mean 50% antibody rates. But that's not what the numbers say?
And 100K deaths in the US means 38 million infections?

And Sweden's 4K deaths should mean 1.5 million infections, so why is there antibody levels in Stockholm only 7%

Something doesn't add up

This may explain it:
From what I hear, someone who tests positive multiple times will be counted as multiple cases.

Whether it's intentional or not... for another thread

This sounds great. I’d love to see where the CDC has that information, they don’t link to it.

There are some serious discrepancies in their reporting.

First, they are misleadingly comparing COVID’s IFR to flu’s CFR. Even at a .26 IFR,  that is estimated to be around 5-10x flu’s IFR.

Second, the “60,000 die of the flu in the US every year” line is obviously blatantly false. The real number of average annual deaths isn’t anywhere close. Here and here are some interesting pieces discussing the obvious phenomenon of us not actually knowing any people who died of the flu when based on the statistics it should be far more prevalent.

Third, that would extrapolate to more than a 100% infection rate in NYC..... Do YOU believe 110% of NYC has been infected????

130% of the Frum people in my community had it, and the Frum communities had it harder than other communities. I estimate at least 180% of NYC residents were infected.

A bunch of poeple here have mentioned sewage testing. Well, here is a study and it is looking to be a leading indicator.

If this is accurate? Every place should be doing this! Can you imagine what a difference a week's notice can make? Especially when you can narrow it down by specific areas in a city and contact trace from there? This is the most disgusting amazing thing if it works.

And can be a major impetus to allow much more flexibility in reopening.

Israel figuring out how to test sewage to pinpoint neighborhoods/cities with COVID-19 cases. Excuse the headline.

100%! A complete game changer if this works. No waiting for symptoms, no waiting for people to bother getting tested, no clogging up medical establishments with paranoid people getting tested just because. And the best part... every 2-3 days, you have a sample from pretty much every single person. And then we can start a thread asking everybody how much it meant to them when they said Asher Yatzar.

Given that someone can be asymptomatic for up to 14 days, testing the waste will allow you to do proactive, targeted, individual testing up to 10 days before symptoms. Additionally, there are people who dismiss the symptoms as "something else" or have other reasons for not getting tested, and this would eliminate them not getting tested. And if there is a general sense of containment, there will be fewer people testing themselves unnecessarily.

So instead of tracing post positives they would be proactive and attack the areas which have the virus coming from them?
Interesting.
