Updated information from my medical source.
Maimonides hasn't seen (almost) any new covid admissions in the last week.
It looks like the 'second wave' may not happen!

Added to the new understanding of the virus that much of the transmission occurs face to face, it looks a lot safer for vulnerable individuals to venture outside if they do it carefully. Mask, social distancing.

In 1918 the 1st wave was March/April, 2nd much more deadly wave was September/October, and 3rd wave was March/April 1919.

It’s unclear if you can compare them yet

Please bury your head in the sand and prematurely say “never”. After all, we’re all immune even though many people in our community who thought they had symptoms have no antibodies.

It's unclear that you can't, too. So let's please refrain from making statements that may cause people to abandon proper safety precautions, because we beat Covid and there's no second wave.

Oh I get. “People are gonna die when it comes back in the fall” unfounded comment but for some reason you’re okay with it. I reply “Hey that’s not necessarily true” and you take offense?

Comments that cause fear are great. But even a hint of optimism isn’t okay for you.

People have warned to be careful because traditionally there is a second wave to pandemics in the fall, when all coronaviruses and influenza are very common, weakening the immune systems. That is an accurate statement. BP has beat Covid is not.

That's blatantly false. See my excitement over Yale's study on testing waste. They were made mere hours ago.

I did see that. I just don’t think you’re reply to my comment was at all necessary. There hasn’t really been any reason to think that weather has any effect on this virus and therefore I was pointing out that to compare it too the Spanish flu isn’t a fair comparison.

Also false. It's actually a pretty well known concept that the germs are able to live longer in colder weather. It's also been used to explain why meat-packing plants have been hit especially hard, due to the low temperatures.

Singapore didn’t seem to have been helped by warm weather.

Research where Singapore's cases are from. Many are imported, and lately the majority have been from migrant worker dormitories. It doesn't magically disappear in the summer, it just generally spreads slower.

It's primarily spread via droplets, of which there are less in the summer.

Brazil is proof that warm weather doesn't help enough.

On the contrary.  Brazil, being in the southern hemisphere, is coming into winter now.  And now is when their death toll is increasing.

There is no real way of knowing the nature of this virus regarding seasonality, but even if there is the possibility of a second wave in the fall/winter, that should not be much of a calculation regarding what we should be doing RIGHT NOW.
