Had people who’ve lived through the Spanish Flu still been alive today, or had a Coronavirus like this one (but not exactly the same, as we would have had a vaccine) swept through the country 50 years ago, how differently would we have handled this?

For the Jewish community specifically, had an elderly Jew been around to say that they stayed home and davened alone during the Spanish flu, would our communities have adhered to authorities faster?
