Told the babysitter not to come already starting last Wednesday or Thursday - which is good, since my wife has since tested positive. She probably can't come back until after Pesach. Question is how much to pay her over that period. Still debating that.

As far as cleaning, we unfortunately had a fire a few months ago. We'll still have our rental over Pesach, but we're hoping our house will be ready enough to move back into shortly. We're not living there yet, so I don't see any reason not to have a post-construction cleaning crew come in, then I'll kasher and start setting up to move back in Pesachdik only. The klala was changed to brocha in this case, B"H.

Remember not to go in for at least eight hours after last person leaves.  You saw the reports of the tiny droplets staying in the air for up to eight hours under certain circumstances?

Most likely I have it without any real symptoms. I'll probably try to get tested at some point before then anyway.

We just decided to bite the bullet and cancel today. Now the question is about paying her. On the one hand she doesn't have too much other income and B'H I am still getting paid but on the other hand
If you don't care why would you comment?

If it is not going to cause you any hardship and it will help her, what is the downside?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

My doc had the following recommendations:

Quote

DO NOT HAVE A CLEANING LADY COME TO YOUR HOUSE.

At the same time, if you absolutely have to do it, here are the guidelines that will reduce risk substantially. (These guidelines are subject to change):

• She must wear a mask at all times in your home.
• She must wash her hands well and then wear gloves.
• Everyone should respectfully stay away from her.
• 6 Foot Rule of Social Distancing for adults.
• Different Room Rule of Social Distancing for kids.
• This is for her protection as well as for your family's protection.

We cancelled and still managed to get the house all cleaned for pesach except the ktchen as of today.
On that note, despite having made pesach many times, it is our first year cleaning a house with radiators.... I felt like a complete n00b  :D though my power steamer came to the rescue. it blasted every thing right out

there was definitely more in the kitchen and dining room ones than the living room. Dining room one was the worst. Pulled out an almost whole cereal bar and a bunch of other junk.
ETA: I'm not paskening that this is required cleaning. It took some effort to get it all out. Aylor

So one year many years ago on shabbos chol hamoed pesach we were eating the friday night meal when we saw my little sister sitting next to to the livingroom radiator happily munching away at a little baggie of stuff which was making her mouth and hands a very scary blue.

Turns out it was mouse poison. Oats, Poison, and a really deep Blue dye for just this reason. She was ok, didnt eat enough the hospital said. I'm sure it was not considered chometz, but OATS! Mouse bait has OATS in it .
I'm not who you think I am.

Listen, if I haven't gotten it in the last 10 days while my wife has been positive and not really taking any precautions inside the house, I can't see how I could possibly get it that way. Most likely I have it without any real symptoms. I'll probably try to get tested at some point before then anyway.
This is a very common misconception, and is probably part of the confusion and misinformation surrounding the virus.

If you share close quarters with someone positive, you have a 10% chance of catching it. On the flip side, even without sharing close contact with someone, there’s a significant chance of catching it through short casual contact. Of course not close to 10%, but the more interactions you have with people, the higher the odds go. I don’t have the source right now but will try to edit it in later.

So everyone who shares quarters with someone positive: there is a very decent chance you have it, and therefore you need to be extra careful. However, do NOT assume “I for sure have it”, because believe it or not, odds are you don’t.

Certainly, the more interactions you have with the infected person the higher the chances. If they sneeze into your mouth, you probably will get it. But you can still not have it, and get it from someone else, so still be careful!

One testing place in NJ said that when someone tests positive they will not test any family members since they assume they all have/had it as well.
