Yup, UK already started one.

Thanks. This is a standard challenge test, looooong overdue. Testing vaccinated patients against variants is a later phase of this trial that hasn’t yet been approved.

So the cases dropped because of vaccination or because the wave is fading?
what a question to ask, because Biden is president don't you know!

OT, but I believe the new wave starts within the next 14 days, Biden notwithstanding.

When you say a wave, how many daily cases/deaths do you mean? The numbers will clearly blip up sooner or later, but I don't think America will have 3000 daily deaths again.

Over 100k cases per day. I don't know about deaths, because I feel we've gotten progressively better with treatment protocols.

Over 100k cases per day.
That's very plausible, but not at all a problem for hospital overload.

That, and a lower average age of hospitalized/severe cases due to ongoing vaccination of seniors and others with risk of complications.

That's very plausible, but not at all a problem for hospital overload.

It's still a wave on the graph.

That depends on how concentrated the wave is.

That, and a lower average age of hospitalized/severe cases due to ongoing vaccination of seniors and others with risk of complications.

I think the vaccination of seniors and high risk demos will help, but I also think this wave will be heavily seeded with the other strains, so I'm still holding my breath to see how this hits children and pregnant women (with regards to hospitalizations).

How much of the US population is overweight?
71%

In other words, overweight/obese people are slightly overrepresented in hospitalized patients, possibly leading to the conclusion that weight matters very little in determining who is at high risk for serious illness.

78% of all hospitalizations, including the elderly. If you take out the over 80's, what percentage were overweight? Without that data, you can't say it wasn't a significant factor.

Correct. Many of the COVID medical risk factors (besides age) also reduce life expectancy.

But you can’t sensationalize it and conclude that it was. The storyline was misleading. Yes, the vast majority of hospitalizations were people who are overweight.. and the vast majority of American adults are people who are overweight.
