Didn't watch, and wondering how accurately unherd summarizes the video. Don't bother responding if you share unherd's bias, as it'll be more of the same.

https://www.the-sun.com/news/4512129/china-anal-swabs-covid-mandatory-winter-olympics/

5cm, and the international Olympic delegations will play along with this?

All because:

Quote
When the tests were proposed in March, Li Tongzeng, a respiratory disease medic, told state media that Covid traces stay detectable for longer in poo samples than they do in the nose or throat.

Isn’t COVID most contagious earlier in the infection period?

Interestingly enough, for Omicron, some are suggesting saliva tests and/or swabbing the back of the throat picking up Omicron sooner than nasal/nasopharyngeal swabbing, because Omicron seems to replicate most/first in the throat (compared to earlier strains where the same was said about the nose and why nasal swabbing was the prevalent testing method.

1/2 of America never had COVID? Sounds high to me considering we’ve already had nearly a million COVID deaths.

Will be interesting to see where this leads.  Studying extremes can help us understand the average - those who never get covid, and those where the whole family comes down with severe cases (we saw an example of this early on, an Italian family in NJ).  Something similar happened with HIV, where a man who never got sick had a mutation that helped scientists understand how the virus worked.  https://www.nytimes.com/2013/09/15/health/stephen-crohn-who-furthered-aids-study-dies-at-66.html

"More than half of Americans may have never had Covid,.."  Not easy to get accurate data now that many don't test, or test at home and don't report.

Remember "challenge" studies?  Two years ago when we knew almost nothing about coronavirus, someone asked why don't we intentionally infect people so that scientists could more quickly learn how the disease spreads, develops, etc.

Finally got results...

~1m COVID deaths is a known number. If more than half of Americans never had COVID then the CFR is higher than we thought (the fewer people had COVID, the higher the CFR).

The Ds would prefer to spend $1,000 in cash per vaccination than an effective $1/vaccination in YouTube ads featuring Donald Trump. The people only vaccinating because of these ads are just as moronic. Both sides make me wonder if America will ever recover from this downward spiral.

Your first sentence was (unfortunately) a statement of fact. You should have left it at that without the rest of the commentary, name calling, and pessimistic outlook. The future is bright!

It is a way to get a message to people who won't receive it when delivered by AOC.

I read Paxlovid works so well that reinfections are common since the body doesn't build immunity. Wonder if this plays a part in higher income population, with access to Paxlovid, having higher rates now ie a lot of reinfections.

@biobook English cliffs notes please.

Looks like a monoclonal antibody that’s being investigated that seems promising against existing Omicron variants and binds to the COVID spike in a way that’s likely not to get mutated to evade this particular antibody.

Now let’s see it working in vivo.

Yes, thank you!
Their paper suggests that it does work in vivo, at least if you're a hamster.
