You are eligible for the $600 weekly FPUC payment if you are on any sort of unemployment, including PUA and partial unemployment. This is available for claims dated 3/28/20-7/31/20. The federal supplement does not affect eligibility for Medicaid and CHIP. It does affect SNAP and TANF.

If you filed for UI more than a week after your layoff date, you are eligible for backpay.

The obligatory waiting week has been waived, so your claim will process with a date a week earlier than what you apply for, to account for the waiting week waiver.

NY
There is a streamlined application process so that all applicants complete the same form, regardless of which program they'll eventually be eligible for.
PUA:
Unemployment for the self-employed. Acceptable proof of income includes prior year tax returns, 1099, P&L, bank statements and more. You will most likely be approved for standard UI even if you're an independent contractor, if you had W2 employment within the last 18 months.
If you are assigned the minimum rate of $182 when it should be higher based on your income, complete this form, fax it in, then send it again via the message center (Subject1: "Benefit Rate and Monetary Determination" Subject2: "Some of my wages are missing or incorrect") so that they definitely got it. Your rate should be adjusted in less than a week. You are also entitled to get your updated rate on all prior weeks.
You are also eligible for PUA if you landed a job but where unable to start due to the pandemic. You need an employment offer that was then rescinded to prove this.
PUA is available for a total of 46 weeks from 02/02/20-12/31/20.
Partial UI:
You can apply for partial UI if you're working 3 days or less, and earning $504/weekly or less. The DOL deducts 25% of your base rate for every day that you work. (You receive 100% of your rate if you don't work at all, 75% if you work 1 day, 50% if you work 2 days, and 25% if you work 3 days).
PEUC:
For those on regular unemployment- you will receive an additional 13 weeks of benefits after you've exhausted your initial 26 weeks. This benefit is available through 12/31/20.
Extended Benefits:
For those on regular unemployment- you will receive an additional 20 weeks of benefits after you've exhausted your initial 26 weeks and your PEUC weeks. This makes for a total of 59 weeks that you can possible receive unemployment benefits. This benefit is available as long as the state's unemployment rate is high.
Requesting Backpay:
The NY DOL is using Docusign to allow claimants to file backpay. You should receive an email from the DOL with instructions. The email subject is "Action Required - NYS DOL Certification for Back Week Payments". This might end up in your spam folder, so be sure to check that as well.
If you don't receive this email or you don't want to wait, call the NY DOL and speak to an agent to certify for backpay over the phone.
It takes a little less than a week from when you complete backdated certifications until your claims are processed and funds are released.
$0 Benefit Determination:
Email @cgr for instructions on a fix for this issue

You can email @cgr at chaiplus1@gmail.com for help with any unemployment questions.

NJ
Apply here.
PUA:

At this point it looks like claimants are still being given $231- the minimum PUA rate- regardless of prior income.
You are also eligible for PUA if you landed a job but where unable to start due to the pandemic. You need an employment offer that was then rescinded to prove this.
PUA is available for a total of 46 weeks from 02/02/20-12/31/20.
Partial UI:
You can apply for partial UI if your hours have been reduced by 20% or more. You'll be allowed to earn an additional 20% above your rate determination. Your earnings will then be deducted from your rate, and you'll receive the balance as your UI payment.
PEUC:
For those on regular unemployment- you will receive an additional 13 weeks of benefits after you've exhausted your initial 26 weeks. This benefit is available through 12/31/20.

Requesting Backpay:
You can request backpay if you are lucky enough to get through to an agent.

You basically have no choice but to wait, there’s no way to speak to someone there unless they call you (from a blocked number).
Make sure you have the right number. Keep calling... I called about 20 times and got the message that they have too many callers and got disconnected. Finally got through and the rep was very helpful. Once got through was a 2 hour wait on hold..
Best to try first thing in the morning 7AM.

This is as of when? None of the menu options at (888) 209-8124‬ even bring me to a point where I hear that they have too many callers. I used to hear that in early April, now it just sends me to their website.

My experience was about two or three weeks ago. I don't remember the exact number but one of the numbers I called gave me a diff number to call after I hit all the menu options.

I've been helping two people with their unemployment filing.
Person 1: Self employed, his account finally shows an amount that he will make per week but does not show the 600. Will that come in?
Person 2: Was laid off at the end of March. His boss put him on a different company payroll for three weeks somewhere between then and now. Should he put in end of March date and just certify that he worked during those three weeks?

Thanks!

Person 2: Yes. Since he'll file his application as of his original layoff date the new employer won't be included in the employment of the last 18 months.

If he's in NJ then he's in the same boat as all of us.
They finally started giving self-employed filers the minimum $231 per week but not the $600.
No one seems to know when they'll be giving the $600.

Follow up question to my post above:
In NY if you file a partial unemployment certification, and your benefit days and benefit amount is only deducted based on how much you claimed for that week so if someone files a claim steadily where they worked 2 days a week, then only 2 days and 50% of their benefit rate is deducted from their balance, and they can stay on UI for 52 weeks instead of the usual 26.

PEUC is billed as a 13 week extension to those exhausted their regular benefits.
PUA is billed as unemployment for those who usually don't qualify with a maximum of 39 weeks.

Now for the question:
Does someone on partial unemployment at 50% as used in the example above qualify for 26 weeks of the extension? And for more than 39 weeks of PUA (PUA only runs from 2/2-12/26 so I won't assume they can stay on for double time)

Anyone here on PUA and only filing partial certifications who can have a look at their account for me to verify this?

He is in NY. He is getting more than 231. I guess NY has a higher max. Makes up for the +$200 max for NJ over NY with standard unemployment :)

It's like that in every single state.
Example NY- minimum PUA benefit $182, minimum UI benefit $104

In the link in my signature I actually wrote up details of PUA minimums and state UI maximums.

He is getting more than double 231 as per his online account. Hasn't received anything yet.
Applied for UI a few weeks ago, got a PUA message a few days ago and completed form. Today the number showed up by his Weekly Benefit Amount:

Example NY- minimum PUA benefit $182, minimum UI benefit $104_Assuming you mean 504

Is there a minimum amount of weeks going forward I need to file for unemployment to get the weeks I missed since March 24th? (Assuming it started around that time.)

Meaning if I didn't file till now, and I just found out the employer whom I work for got approved for a loan and will be paying more than I would get with unemployment so I'll be put on his payroll let's say on Sunday or Monday.

Is one day (today) enough to apply and sign up for unemployment to get for all weeks and then not certify for unemployment for the future ?

Thanks.

No. I mean regular UI minimum is $104, while minimum PUA is $182. Both have a maximum of $504.
In NY they're a bit better with determining rates. They're not giving everyone the min and then hoping to readjust eventually, they're paying you based on your previously reported income.

You can apply even if you already got your job back. Just put in that original layoff date on your application, and when asked if working now answer truthfully. You won't get the option to certify backdated claims right away, but they'll reach out to you and give it to you eventually.

If I write I'm not working, as today I'm not working will I get the option to back date the claims?

while if I wait till Monday then in fact I'll be on the payroll so I won't be able to say I'm not working.

Got it. I read ae123 and your posts wrong. Was looking at it as max not minimum.

You won't get the option today. Eventually they'll reach out to you and tell you that your claim was filed as of 3/24 (or whatever the date is that you put in on your application) and that you're missing certifications from that date up until 5/10 (assuming you file today and certify on the spot for the week ending 5/17).

You'll get your funds eventually, don't worry.
You won't get them today.

If you file today you can certify for the week ending in 5/17. If you file Monday you won't be able to until you get the option for backdated filings, and you'll get an error that you're trying to file while working so you'll need to log in and log back out.

Then I guess I won't wait and will try for today to fill out the form.

And like I saw above thread someplace its the same application as someone who is self employed? As that's the only form I filled out for a family member. Meaning same q ?
