Qantas united priceline cancelled ticket saga
« on: March 29, 2020, 12:08:36 AM »
I booked a flight with Priceline
PPT-EWR
flight was sold by qantas
PPT-LAX was operated by air Tahiti
LAX-EWR was operated by united
I tried to cancel within 24 hours but was on hold so long that by the time I got to a live rep, it was past midnight and they refused to cancel it.

I logged into united.com and accidently cancelled the ticket.
I purchased another ticket with Amex travel and hoped that I'll be able to get a refund for the original ticket.

I tried fighting it with Priceline, Qantas, and Priceline. they all claimed they didn't have the funds and I was being bounced from one to the other. All in all I spent hours on hold trying to get the refund

When we arrived a the airport in Tahiti, they mentioned that we have two active tickets. Turns out, united only cancelled their portion of the ticket and not the Air Tahiti flight.
When we got back, I tried to dispute the charge saying that united cancelled my ticket and that I didn't fly with that ticket, but Qantas sent in a ticket confirmation receipt, and stated that it was a no show. amex accepted that, and only refunded the taxes ($136)

What can I do at this point?
Apparently amex platinum didn't have the travel protection back then.
Can I do a return protection claim?
anyone have experience with this type of thing?
