Theyre covered by most insurance now. Just get a script from your doctor sent to pharmacy. PM if your pharmacy is out.
Fair warning - Any PMs sent in response to forum posts are fair game for ridicule in public.

First off those pocket ones are not accurate.
Second it's not only about numbers, if you are short of breath call, if you have what you think is low saturation but you feel fine it's most likely a faulty machine.
So please don't just trust those pocket o2 sensors.

Many doctors rely on pocket pulse/ox machines.
If a person is short of breath, how bad is it?  Check their oxygen saturation with a pulse/ox.  If it's below (insert your doctor's recommendation here) get oxygen.  If it's above, calm down and keep an eye on things.

Can also tell you if you're psychosomatic or it's really an issue.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

IDK if that's correct. We used to get the expensive GE ones (about $400) but they would walk, usually EMTs transferring pts to the hospital. Our pulmonologist and director of respiratory told us to start buying the $20 ones from Amazon and they do just as good of a job. And have been using those since then (7 years or so) and they seem to work fine.

We started selling them locally after a few Hatzlah members request it. Since they receiving higher call volumes and a lot of the calls are the same people freaking out. We distributed over 50 yesterday in the BP/Flatbush neighborhoods.

He thinks people have low oxygen without knowing it and early testing/detection will save lives.

My (slightly) educated guess is that healthy people tolerate a lower oxygen level before they absolutely plotz. So they’re slower to sound the alarm and get to the hospital when they’re sicker.
