Coronavirus and your blood type (Poll)
« on: March 29, 2020, 03:41:54 PM »
There have been many reports about (non-peer reviewed) studies that indicate that people with blood type A are more susceptible to COVID-19 and/or get more severe symptoms. Other (also unverified) reports indicate that people with type O are more immune and/or get milder symptoms.

Since we have a substantial group of DDFers with COVID-19, I thought it may be helpful to make a poll. Perhaps we can see a trend here.

(Before you laugh this off - I've seen numerous reports on DDF about loss of smell/taste being a symptom, before I saw it reported on any news outlet...)

I can add options to the bottom, but I'm not sure how to change to allow everyone to select two options...

Give option of Male O, Male A... Female O, Female B...
But Male/female will be skewed because its mostly males on here.
I'm not who you think I am.

If you make a google form it can have multiple questions and people can forward it to all their friends. Just an idea.

I added those options. I did not reset the vote, because everyone has the option to remove their vote and revote. So if a female voted already, please correct your vote.

why does "I don't know my blood type" not have mild/severe options?

Because to this question - that option doesn't really make a difference. That option was merely put in as to get the general idea of how many people had coronavirus, but it was really covered in a different thread.

So far, with not enough people answering to ascertain any concrete assumption about coronavirus and blood types, the only thing we can see clearly is that more than 50 percent of men don't know something that 100 percent of woman know...  :P

Isn’t type A much more common than type O? You’d need a much higher number of As without any Os to conclusively prove this.

In an optimal scenario, hundreds of people will respond to this poll. If the type A's have a substantially higher rate of severe or positive symptoms than the type O's, it may be an indication...

Very simple, women need to know their blood type when they get pregnant. RH negative need to make sure the body doesn't create antibodies against the baby.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.
