IZ = Israel Zion = Maimonides Hospital

From https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Maimonides_Medical_Center:
Quote
In 1920 Israel Hospital merged with Zion Hospital to form United Israel Zion Hospital, later renamed Israel Zion Hospital. Maimonides Medical Center was formed as a result of the merger of United Israel Zion Hospital and Beth Moses Hospital in 1947.
Hatzolah uses IZ as code for the hospital. So should we. Unless you are really good at spelling.

On a separate note, it’s officially starting across NY :'(
NYU has long had a strong belief in 'quality of life' as the criterion for helping keep patients alive.
Hint: Jewish law mostly disagrees.

BTW any @mod can you please rename this thread to the correct name? "Maimonides"
Correct spelling doesn’t fit the narrative. :P

This thread has basically just been two guys arguing, as is pretty common on DDF.
Now if anyone has any current info what’s going on at IZ, or knows where and why Hatzolah is bringing patients....

All day today B Hatzolah has been taking to NYU, Mt. Sinai, Cornell and Lenox. Heard a few IZs in between.

they took a turn in the right direction
they changed their guidelines/policy

they committed to interbate every single patient regardless of age/situation as long as they have equipment

relaxed PPE policy

every patient will be checked at least once an hour

Was originally Israel Zion Hospital. Sign is still on the old building. EMS used to call it IZ Hatzolah adopted it in the 70s and EMS then changed it to Maimo

Unless the patient is a traumatic arrest EMS cannot bring a patient who does not have a pulse to the hospital actively doing CPR. In other words, call the coroner.

What I don't understand is why they're not allowing private nurses, it would help take some of the burden off the staff as well as have someone dedicated to taking care of the patient. It's a win win.
In my facility we are still allowing private nurses (not really nurses, just aides). They aren't allowed to perform any real care because they aren't properly in-serviced in all of our p&p but they could do basic things like feed the pt. And yes, it does help the staff a little, especially now during a staffing shortage.

What does that have to do with
“In order to ensure the safety of our providers while also providing care to our patients” ?

Wouldn’t this just mean patients will be brought in sooner to mitigate it ch”v coming to this?

What I have heard from a member "we can't drop off someone 10am and it should be over by 2pm"
The Governor keeps on talking how people are staying on ventilators for very long, vs by MMC it seems like they are on it for merely hours.
Don't know anything about hatzalah's reasoning but as anybody who is in healthcare could probably tell u, dont believe anything the governor (and mayor) says, especially to the media. It's a bunch of 1 line, headline catching garbage quite often. Like last week when he said 'theres not a single nurse or MD in the state that could say they don't have enough PPE'. So far I have not found a single clinician on the front lines, in a healthcare facility agreeing to that.

Does Maimonides have adequate pulmonologists vs. the other NYC hospitals. Ventilators are only a part of the keili for Refuah, you also need someone competent to set them properly, monitor the patient, and adjust them as necessary.
