Just saw a video of @bluestrings saying that he's on a flight and they announced that masks are recommended but not mandatory. Didn't say which airline.

Removing the mask mandate from everywhere except flights is likely to cause more issues of non-compliance.  I hope that the FAs get some serious de-escalation training.

...but that cough from the guy right next to me didn't go through the HEPA filters.

Reminds me when USPS put in filters after the anthrax incident. They installed them right above the operators on the DBCS's (their main mail sorting machines). The feeder was right in front of the operator. Mail was feed 35k pieces/hr by rubber belts. Small particles of paper dust are generated by the friction. The filter would draw the dust up in the air right pass the operators mouth and nose. You can't make this stuff up.

I agree with you fully and meant my comment sarcastically, I believe it was at least 6–12 months until we stopped hearing the HEPA filter nonsense parroted in the top media publications.

The people I am in touch with live in areas where masks are no longer required - I didn't realize that they are still required under certain circumstances ( other than air travel).
