There are no plans to reinstate mask mandates in New York City just yet, according to the city's health commissioner Dave Chokshi.

Appearing on CNN's New Day program on Friday, Chokshi said city officials will continue to monitor the data regarding the Delta variant of COVID-19—which is driving up case numbers across the country.

Chokshi said the Delta variant now makes up 69 percent of the virus cases being reported in New York City. While cases are on the rise, the health commissioner said the amount of hospitalizations and deaths are not.

He needs to stop playing politics with public health issues.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis signed an executive order Friday banning local school districts from requiring students to wear masks. The order came days after the federal Centers for Disease Control and Prevention issued new guidance recommending that all students and teachers and other staffers in K-12 schools wear face coverings come the fall.

Florida is on par with rest of the country with vaccines.

Just because the CDC and the Federal government are playing politics doesn't mean DeSantis needs to allow Florida to be pulled into the ridiculous idea of forcing kids to be masked.
