To my fellow DDF'ers:Along with a colleague I am trying to get in touch with at least one administrator/askan from each of the US coronavirus tzedakah funds, to inform them of the family's eligibility for unemployment benefits if:
- family members were prevented from working when their loved one was ill
- the surviving spouse or adult child is now a major breadwinner in lieu of the deceased, even if they never worked before
Benefits will vary based on the situation, but the average UI claim is ~20k, and could make a real difference for some families. From what we've heard most are not aware of their potential eligibility.
It's a monumental task, one that we did not anticipate when we first started out. After reviewing each of the funds and narrowing it down to just those in the US, it dawned on us that while most causes have names listed, almost none have any contact info. We're both not 'askan' people and so we don't know any (or nearly any) of the people listed.
If you have any contact info for any of the tzedakah fund administrators we would greatly appreciate the information. I do not want to post the list publicly, but if you think you can be of help please PM me and I'll send you the list of admins that I need contact info for.
Also feel free to PM with tzedakah funds of the sick or deceased that were not mentioned on this page but would benefit from such information.
Thank you and Tizkeh L'Mitzvos.
