Just received this from Ally for my Chrysler lease:

We're here to help take the stress out of returning your vehicle right now.

As the public health situation evolves, your well-being is our top priority, and we want to help take the stress out of your lease-end process. To help you get started, we're giving you 30 days - on us - after your original lease-end date. But if you need more time beyond that, you can now log in to your account and extend your lease for up to 5 additional months.

If you want to extend your lease:

We'll give you additional miles at the rate outlined in your contract. To calculate your additional mileage, divide the total number of miles your contract allows by the number of months in your contract. For example, if your one-year contract allows 12,000 miles total, you'll get an additional 1,000 miles for each month you choose to extend. You'll be responsible for any mileage above what your contract outlines and the extra we're providing.

You should still drive and care for your vehicle as usual – this includes keeping your vehicle insured and otherwise complying with the terms of your lease.

Your regular payment won't change. After the first 30 days on us, you'll start paying your regular monthly payment amount every additional month you choose to extend your lease.

Know there's room to switch gears. If you choose to extend your lease but end up changing your mind later, we're here to help modify your extension or facilitate a purchase or return to the best of our ability. We won't charge you if you want to return your vehicle at any point during your extension.

Note that if you choose not to extend, return, or buy but keep your vehicle after your scheduled end date, daily extension charges will start to apply. Of course, if you go over your mileage limit, you'll be charged for that as well.

If you don't want to extend, you have options.

To purchase your vehicle:
Schedule an appointment with your dealer to get started. We can try to help if you're having trouble finding an open dealership.
Pay the purchase option price stated in your lease, plus unpaid fees, taxes and any other unpaid amounts due. If you need to finance this amount, ask your dealer if you qualify for Ally financing
Call us at 1-888-925-2559and let us know you've decided to buy your leased vehicle. (We appreciate your patience if wait times are longer than usual.)
For a buyout quote, log in and navigate to Request a Quote

To return your vehicle:
Try to reach out to your dealer or find an open dealership. If you're having trouble, contact us, and we'll try to help.

To view more updates on our relief efforts, visit ally.com/coronavirus-response. You can call 1-888-925-2559 or chat with us online, but know that we're experiencing longer wait times than usual, and we appreciate your patience. We're available Monday – Friday, from 8 am to 10 pm ET, and Saturday from 9 am to 7 pm ET.

Anyone try this on a Kia?
Jury Duty: Nothing to do there but chill and write a TR. Kinda like the beach but missing the view and ocean breeze.

Has anyone tried this with a Honda lease through US Bank?

Also, I heard from somebody who heard from a mortgage broker (take it for what it’s worth) that he pulled credit for a client and the deferral showed as a negative in the report, I have no way of confirming it, but that’s what he said.

US Bank is offering a deferral for 2 payment, a lump payment for 3 months will be due then

I called and confirmed with them. Returning car at maturity date, last payment is the month before maturity date, and no payment for the next 2 months.

Did so as well, but now someone told me HFS reports it as a delinquency

Update: Deferral/forbearance will hurt your mortgage approval odds with certain banks, see attached

How long does this stay on your record?
Till the end of the loan/lease or longer?

Like any other late fee.

But in general when it comes to being approved for a mortgage, there’s a difference between being late on a mortgage/housing payment vs being late on a car loan or on a credit card for that matter, a late on a mortgage payment effects your mortgage approval odds far more than being late on a non-housing loan.

So talk to your mortgage broker before prioritising on which loan to accept a forbearance offer and on which one not. Accepting on a car lease might be the better option.
