Passport applications and Passport Renewal

Online renewal:
Signed up via the Google link on March 7, got an invite to set up my travel.gov account on March 8, and got an invitation to apply for renewal March 24.

I had a similar time frame.

March 8th filed out the Google link, within 24 hours got the invite to set up travel.gov account. Set it up a few days later (on the weekend) and received the invite to apply for renewal today.

i paid for expedited passport a month ago. child's passport was held up in processing for more docs (which i already overnighted)
since flights are within 2 weeks, the call center looked for an appointment in the tristate area and could not find anything!
anyone w experience in this situation that can guide me? will it arrive within a week of them receiving the docs?
can i walk into the center in manhattan? where is it? any other ideas?

When my daughter's application was taken too long I called for an appointment 2 weeks before the flight.. I was asked did she submit a passport application already I responded yes and they put me through to someone else who looked in the system and found the application and put a further rush on it. He said it would be approved within a day and then mailed to me within a week. We received the passport 4 days after the phone call.

how do I actually get someone on the phone at the passport office? I received a letter that I need clarification on, but the phone tree just leaves me at "if you received a letter, please make sure to comply as soon as possible".

The US has extended the acceptance of many expired US passports for use in entering the USA until June 30, 2022.

If you are looking at child appointments, I believe there is a bug that it only shows appointments for adults.

Would anyone know what is the average time in today's to get a new passport if applying in person?

It says on the the website that the regular processing takes 8-11 weeks. My trip booked would be 10 weeks from my appointment.

Wondering if I would have to choose expediting or I can rely on standard.

I plan to fly in 4 weeks and starting to get nervous that I won't have it in time. I can update my order for expedited service, but the time-frame for that is 5-7 weeks so it might not get to me in time even with the faster service.

In my limited experience, you can call on later, say 2-3 weeks before your trip and pay to expedite it, and it'll usually come within the week from then. Things may be different nowadays so I'll let others chime in.
