Also when applying for a child's passport do you need to bring a copy of their birth certificate in addition to the original, same for parent's Id's? If so do they need to be color copies?

Renewal, it’s makes sense they require the original when applying without an expiring passport.

that is correct, because if you have already a passport they dont need the birth certificate as proof, just to show the relationship to the parents

Hi, I have a wedding in October and i need to travel internationally and got my passport in 2007, it has since expired.

What is the quickest and cheapest way I can get a new passport? I'm confused because there looks like a bunch of scam sites and most information is for just a passport renewal.

If you’re eligible for online passport renewal do that ASAP, pay for expedited shipping and it should arrive in time. You have to setup your account at Noon (I think) to get one of the limited daily application slots.

My passport was issued in 2007 or 2008 and not renewed. IDK if I even know where it is

If you don’t know where it is and don’t have a good scan of it then you can’t renew online.

You still have time to make an in-person appointment at an official passport application acceptance facility (e.g. library or post office, usually with an appt required). And pay for expedited processing.

The only time they require that is, if you actually go down to the passport appointmen, same day. Though, even then, they didn't ask for it.

i renewed mine and my wife's the same day (8/21).
she got hers a week later, i didn't get mine yet

I renewed online on my home desktop for my wife, used her existing passport photo scanned on my scanner and I received the book within the SAME week. shockingly fast. the card came the 2nd week.

Hope you won't have problems traveling with that photo. You supposed to have a recent photo, I photo 10 years old will look much younger then age on passport.

finally got mine. i called the number and she explained that there are 26 passport centers and some are busier than others. it's all depends which center your application gets routed to.
