Totally, but if the money will get printed and our grandkids will pay (if America still exists by then) I might as well take my crumbs of the pie.
Trump increased the deficit more than any other President in history, even before Covid.

(To be clear, I support growing the deficit, I'm impartial on stimulus checks and not eligible for them myself BH)

It will cost us much more then those checks, we will pay with checks and balances
. But I gotta give it to Trump, he certainly punished McConell for not going to bat the way he liked...

45th consecutive one to do that. Bunch of bums.

Now don't come telling me that this or that President didn't.

Trump is the first President that I know of who campaigned on eradicating the deficit.

I would hope that anyone who is against handouts would be against this to even if they may be happy to get it. But then again, Trump pushed it so you never know.
I just think that if the airlines are getting $375,000 to pay $10/hour for a worker to come in and do nothing for 4 months, then everyone should get some real money.

According to this post it does get adjusted for children.

https://www.dansdeals.com/more/coronavirus/coronavirus-stimulus-benefits-house-senate-now-voting/

"The checks will be phased out for single filers making more than $75,000 and married filers making more than $150,000 AGI. That amount is phased out at a rate of $5 per $100 of income until a single filer makes $87,000 or a married couple without children makes $174,000, at which point it is completely phased out. The phaseout with children will be $12,000 higher per child, so a couple with 2 kids will phase out completely at $198,000. A couple with 4 kids will phase out completely at $222,000."
This is the way it's been portrayed all over, but it's confusing. The phase out always begins at 75k/150k regardless of how many dependents you have. This is the how it was the first time and this is how it is the second time. Because it phases out $5 per $100 of additional income, if your potential check before the phase out is higher because you have children there is more room until the phase out finishes.

A couple will get $1200 less than last time regardless of income, if you got $1200 or less last time you get $0 now.
A couple with 1 child will get $1100 less than last time (-$600 per adult. +$100 per child), if you got $1100 or less last time you get $0 now.
A couple with 2 children will get $1000 less than last time.
Etc.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

I agree, it is confusing. Thanks for the explanation.

I did just check my bank account a minute ago but I'm not spending $600 on Laffy Taffy.
Is this payment automatic for those of us who have not yet filed a 2019 tax return?
