So. . . With the vaccine now here. . . Are any of these suggestions going to stick?Any halls agree to offer compatible packages post-COVID?Any communities take action to support these initiatives on a permanent basis?
What specifically are you referring to?
What's the prize differential between a similar chasunah in Lakewood vs the NYC area (Brooklyn, Monsey, Passaic)?
25k is not enough for the cheapest wedding plus other marriage expenses today. Probably worse in 20 years
Per side? Sure it is. (Although bad rabbit hole to go down, especially if you live in Lakewood and have made weddings recently.)
Delusional, especially 20 years down the road.
A year ago a friend of mine made a wedding in Lakewood and we reviewed the all in cost from vort to sheva brachos - it was under $30K for their side (girl). Mind you it was a year ago and everything was basic - no upgrades (except for a photographer at the vort). Very important to know your own standards and expectations.
I have another friend that made a wedding a few months ago in BP and from vort-sheva brachos was 100K for one side. There's a very large spread what a "regular" chasuna means and what people include.
Basic hall in BP today is 15k per side unless you can wait months for a takanah wedding date. How are you making a wedding in 20 years from now for 25k? I'll repeat, its delusional.
I just spoke to another friend who made chasuna in BP in the last week - said basic hall for both sides was 17.5K (doesn't include music flowers - maybe you're including those+?)And IIRC a relative told me recently a lakewood takana hall which includes everything basic (flowers/music/photographer) is also under 20K for both sides.
Are you trying to say he is too low?
Not sure who you're referring to?I'm saying a wedding hall in BP is less than 15K/side by at least a good few thousand dollars. More like $11K including flowers music and photographer. And a hall in Lakewood would be under 10K/side all in.
oh you wrote both sides. Yes that makes sense and your numbers fit with my research. As of a year and a half ago every single hall in Lakewood had takana for below $20000 both sides. Now it is obviously higher, but only small families who are really skimping can realistically get away with anything close to $25000 for all in including sheva brachos, vort, gifts, clothing, supplies for the newlyweds and some basic furnishings such as beds.
Is this supposed to be a joke?
Insanity.
They haven't highlighted a typical middle class family yet. It's the weirdest thing. It's either been high income families or very low income families.
