Jews are more likely to have hypertension.
That is not science or fact.

And now we have a statement that fits the "scientific" nature of this thread.

Is this (whether a statement is racist or not) a matter of semantics? Motive?
No, it is because the first is a generalization of a race based on the action of individuals, the second is a statistic (I would change the second from science to statistics) of individuals within a group, and the third is a scientific fact.

Freaky. Is it safe to say there is MUCH more we don’t know than know?

58 y/o R’ Tzvi Hirsch Porush from Meah Shearim, who’s 52 y/o wife passed away last week. 4 people from the same block were niftar so far. BDE.

https://www.theyeshivaworld.com/news/headlines-breaking-stories/1853160/mea-shearim-4-covid-19-fatalities-from-the-same-street-resident-passes-away-during-shiva-for-his-wife.html
I know what people are going to say about people from Meah Shearim not social distancing but the odds of an under 60 couple not biologically related both dying are astronomically low, based on what we know. Let alone 4 people from the same block. Does this show some evidence of an especially strong strain?

Were they both, perhaps, diabetic or prediabetic?  Perhaps both overweight?
He collapsed in his home.  Perhaps he was in severe breathing difficulty for a while?

Unfortunately some people R"L succumb to COVID-19 from clotting-related complications that have nothing to do with breathing.

Not sure there's enough research to reassure us that summer will give us a reprieve of any significance. The hope that it will though means the hot and humid NYC summer weather can't come soon enough, first year I'm looking forward to it :D

I don't know... I'm pretty sceptical, too, but then I look at the numbers in super highly populated areas like FL, TX, AZ, and CA and it makes me wonder if it will buy time over the summer to get some good treatment protocols on the market.

On the other hand, I hope the reprieve (if it comes) doesn't give a false sense of security leading to a devastating second wave.

CA locked down early but FL with it's spring break fiasco, high senior population and open beaches would really seem to support this theory.

Look also at India with a very small amount of cases relative to it's population.

I'm not sure why they don't mention it and almost no one talks about it, but in summer months everyone's vitamin D levels are higher and that also helps people not catch and helps their immune system in fighting viruses.

I’m not saying you’re wrong but are you an anti-vaxxer?

Somewhere in the middle. Give all vaccines except chicken pox at young ages and flu. Vaccines and vitamin D aren't mutually exclusive.

You wouldn’t vaccinate for flu? How about COVID-19?

I figured something along those lines.. no, they’re not mutually exclusive, but anti-vaxxers and Vitamin D seem to go hand in hand  ;)

The problem isn't that people that like vitamin D don't like vaccines, it's that the ones that like vaccines don't openly promote vitamin D. Ask any MD and they will tell you (and many times it's only if you ask) how important it is to maintain vitamin D levels. IMHO most people in NY/NJ (and OH where I live) would be low in vitamin D from Oct-April.

my pro-vax pediatrician recommends vitamin d
