You wouldn’t vaccinate for flu? How about COVID-19?

I figured something along those lines.. no, they’re not mutually exclusive, but anti-vaxxers and Vitamin D seem to go hand in hand  ;)
I take Vitamin C/D and am pro-vax.

my pro-vax pediatrician recommends vitamin d
Mine too - after I asked if it's important.
My Q is how much the colder states' vitamin D levels being higher in the summer would change COVID-19's curve and hospitalization/death rate.

C is of course important for the immune system as well (and I take C as well) but we get that from foods that we eat. The reason I'm picking on D as far as what changes when the summer conditions start is that many others have dangerously low levels now and won't in a month from now.

There's a thread for that.
How about COVID-19?
There should be a thread for this, but I'm not going to worry about it now since there's a good chance that we won't have much of a choice.

Doubt outdoor activities are going to go back to normal to find out.

I don't want to like this, can we get an "agree" button?

I would say that part of it has to do with people being indoors during the winter. And germs live longer on colder surfaces.

I'm sure vitamin D plays a role.

I just don't see NYC emptying out in the summer as usual.

I don't take vitamin D because I get a lot of sun. But my family has taken vitamin c since this started and many of us take zinc..

Going to search the vitamin cabinet for zinc and if not will iyh start eating more foods high in zinc...
ETA no idea why, but I have zinc!

Fact- I won't be sitting at Progressive Field and watching a game in May (and likely not anytime soon).
Fact- I will get more Vitamin D from the sun in May this year vs April regardless of what's back to normal and what isn't.

Zinc was always something I got if I was feeling a cold coming. Red meat is high in zinc.

But these days I don't eat a lot of red meat, I also don't eat dairy. I figured it wouldn't hurt to take a pill daily. I just have to make sure to do it after I eat or it makes me nauseous.

In general I tried to get these vitamins naturally. It accomplishes 2 things;

A) you eat healthier, for eating an orange or grapefruit for the vitamin c You are also getting all the nutrients and benefits from those fruits. Same for nuts and grains etc

B) hey you got the vitamins and you are eating healthy.

Who wants to get sick during of pandemic anyways with any thing ?

And then hopefully these healthy have its carry over to when it's over

Also, as many others have mentioned, since we have many Mitzvos that we can't do now and/or Chumras that we haven't kept recently, we have an opportunity to be Machmir in Vnishmartem and Pikuach Nefesh which is what we're focusing on...

https://www.outsideonline.com/2380751/sunscreen-sun-exposure-skin-cancer-science

(This website obviously promotes the outdoors, however there are some interesting items in there.

  • Studies showing Vitamin D highly correlating with good health
  • Studies showing that supplementation of Vitamin D does not give the same benefit
  • Therefore sun exposure is what causes good health, not the actual Vitamin D (take this extrapolation with a grain of salt)
)

But my question is if there are any doctors or disease experts discussing how vitamin D from the sun relates to COVID-19?

Where is he from? Australia?
UK. He's been posting videos on Covid-19 for months; takes a very scientific, measured approach. While he isn't a doctor of medicine, he's a retired nurse with some sort of doctorate degree.

FWIW, Dr Weil says that while Vitamin D is fine for preventing, it shouldn't be taken by those that test positive or have symptoms
