Also given that Esrogim tend to cut themselves off the tree and then nicely pack themselves into boxes and onto shipping containers, without any human intervention, they probably won't be affected. Another plus is that the stay home orders were given only to humans, fruits got a waiver. All in all things look positive B"h.
Now you understand why itís the custom to pray for an esrog way back on Tu Shvat...

Heard that Italian Esrogim won't be effected, since Calabria where they grow is on Italy's southern tip at the other end of the outbreak.

The fancy sellers go to Calabria themselves to the Esrog orchards they have relationships with to hand-pick you an Esrog. They travel especially each year for a fancy photo shoot showing them examining the Esrogim on the trees with magnifying glasses. Not sure itís a given that theyíll be able to travel to Calabria this year.

If you say so... hard to believe that if until now there was no shortage then itís only getting better Bh...
Or am I dreaming...?
this is my business.... We are slowly seeing manufacturers (mostly smaller ones) begining to close. Either due to lower demand (no food service) or because to many employees are in isolation... (Think empire poultry)

farms are still harvesting...
On a side note, if consumers saw "social distancing" and face covering practices at some relatively large manufacturers, they be pretty shocked. I was at a produce supplier and fish plant just before pesach and what we saw was almost all employees wearing their facemasks on their chins since it's uncomfortable. Hopefully covid19 doesn't survive long on produce or fish(lots of sushi fish here)

yea but everyone will get a basic set if shuls are still closed since no need to show off.
If the matza thread (https://forums.dansdeals.com/index.php?topic=40116.0) is any indication, you can still brag about how much you paid on DDF.

Due to social distancing, many Chabad shluchim arranged seders to go this year. Will they be sending arba minim in the same way? Might be a spike in demand for basic sets.

What type of manufacturers? Of processed foods, or raw basics?

Right now only finished product and mostly specialty items. But that may change if too many employees are infected

Not sure about sukkos. But food basics might be a shortage in the next few weeks. Spoke today to a large distributor his words.
Four weeks Iíve been waiting for someone to raise alarm bells about this isnít there anything that can be done?
Be it government or unions etc. imposing regulations to treat food establishments like nursing homes or the like

That is not always so simple to do

::)

You can always just make a new thread for that instead of going off topic in this one.

International imports vs. domestic manufacturing? And when looking at imports, the ďexoticĒ category would likely be hit harder then ďregularĒ things.
