I'm planning on getting the Target REDCard (credit) for my wife.  We're not churners and am not worried about the hard pull.  Any recommendation whether to get the VISA or the plain Store Card?

They give you the visa if they like your credit more. The store credit version is if they do not want to give you a visa. You apply and they decide which to give you, you can't choose one over the other.

FYI, the debit card offers all the same benefits as the credit card except it works like a debit instead of credit.

Edit: People above are saying you can't use the debit online.

And except that you need to have money available in your checking account, as apposed to a credit card which you can pay at a later time.

That would be part of the difference between a credit and a debit ;)

Also per targets website the debit card does work online.

As of right now from targets website: Target Debit Card and Target Credit Card can only be used at Target.com and at Target stores in the United States

Target phone people may know more than the website.

Maybe just buy gift cards online at a discount for use there?

Somehow I totally blanked on that thought. I did a google search and ended up with http://www.target.com/spot/corporate-giftcards/faqs#q21

saying that you can not use them in canada. Sorry for the bad idea.

Any reason one should go for the Target debit card vs the credit card?
