Tzad hashaveh shebeneihem: Both the airlines and the city of NY wants to spend as little as possible per meal.
Other caterers would laugh at the budgets offered.

On further consideration, I'm not sure you're right about this. Just ask any school or yeshiva in NY about the lunch program.
I've been waiting over 5 years with bated breath for someone to say that!

I was told by the organizer that the budget is minuscule.
Save your time, I don't answer PM. Post it in the forum and a dedicated DDF'er will get back to you as soon as possible.

The schools seems very eager to give it as many means as they can. That may be due to different funding through the school lunch program.

And the meals are much bigger and better than throughout the year.
But that might be the school just trying to collect tuition.

They want people to actually come pick them up. If the family doesn't eat them then who would come to pick it up?

The one that I saw had a small packet of granola added to the breakfast and the tuna instead of chumus for the lunch.

Florida started free kosher lunches today for private school students.
Starting next week they are supposed to include shelf stable items as well.

Being that we don’t normally service lunch at home, just a light snack. Our kids really enjoyed it.

KSML- covid-19 kosher meals

Here's a place to post pics and descriptions of the free kosher food that's being offered for families w kids under 18. Its important so people know which pickup locations are worthwhile, the days, hours, wait-times (car or no car), and requirements (must be enrolled or not)
Please post neighborhood first, then all other details!

I don't think this is a good idea on such an open forum.
Private whatsapp groups can limit the customer base.  Here it's too public.  A school giving good food will be inundated with starngers and run out of food for their families and neighbors.

its a good idea since the schools get paid per meal that they give out
its a win-win
however, the places that actually give good food, deserve to have a lot of ppl come, whereas the ones who give u $2 worth of stuff are not worthwhile and they are a waste of time

basically, the better the food, the more ppl should come!! more ppl come= school makes more meals= more profit for school

It became a business.
all the schools now advertise.

Went to the city's one, (public school) but to a "non kosher" location, wanted to see what it was different from the "kosher" location,  they had a menu of different options to choose from, "turkey sandwich" "this type of sandwich" "chummus and chips" etc...  I asked the lady for to Hummus and chips lunches, so she gave me two lunches and two breakfast, all the items were kosher but some were "OU-D/non cholov Yisroel, except vegetables which I threw out

THANK YOU HASHEM!!!

Honestly, I was at the grocery store the other day and saw someone buying milk. I looked at them as if the came from another planet.

The question is if mosdos will be interested in distributing them, p EBT wouldn't be bad.
