What does this have to do with government mandated lockdown? People are free to take the precautions they feel necessary.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

This looks like an argument that government mandated lockdowns are less effective than people doing it on their own.

You're conflating two issues. Whether they are voluntary or mandated, the question is if the restrictions are effective. Based on the mobility charts, Sweden is not a good example of a country with zero restrictions, even if they are self-imposed.

The question isn't if voluntarily restrictions are effective, the only question is should government be forcing restrictions down our throats. From what we're seeing here and more locally comparing Lakewood to NY the answer is a resounding NO!

Sweden didn't need to impose restrictions when they're citizens stayed at home without the restrictions...

Anyhow, Sweden cases are near an all time peak again, but we're still at the point in the curve we're people are saying 'but there are no deaths'. Give it a few more weeks and they'll be singing a different tune. The Asian countries are the only ones that handled this right.

Actually in NY it appears the restrictions were brutally effective.

Which is what we've been seeing, mobility tanked in March before any restrictions were implemented and it started going back up way before government lifted any restrictions.

No, the question is, "Are restrictions effective?" How to get compliance is a different question, and one that has different answers for different places and demographics.

Please explain to us, by what twisted logic or metric were the lockdowns in NY more effective than the non lockdown in lakewood?

I disagree, even if they're effective I still dont believe we should have governments micromanaging our daily life. This proves that government overreach is counterproductive.

more effective than the non lockdown in lakewoos?
I did not say that. But the fact of the matter is the Covid wave appears to have subsided in BP & Monsey. Was there a better way to do it? Maybe. But it worked.

No it didn't, at best it had no effect. The natural peak took it's course and it had absolutely nothing to do with the draconian lockdown imposed by Cuomo.

I'm just gonna interrupt here to point out that this tweet is showing only the last 6 weeks of data. Not particularly instructive.

Can somebody find data for prior months?

You can believe what you want about government's role in our lives, but it has nothing to do with the question this thread is trying to answer.

For sure, but it's good to have going forward when looking at Sweden's numbers.

It dramatically lowered contacts which inevtiably lowers infection. It worked just like every other lockdown around the world worked.
