Of course, anyone who lives in the Jewish community in the tri-state area (or any logical person) knows that claiming proof of herd immunity is complete bunk, and a few months of quiet in no way shape or form means you’ve reached herd immunity. Life is comprised of S-curves.

“Ongoing lockdowns in the UK etc.” is a straw man as well, of course. What is he talking about?

Some of what he said is true and is common knowledge.

The UK is implementing a serious lockdown right now, they said explicitly that it can last for 6 months.

The UK is beginning to implement a new lockdown, and I believe they said some of the new restrictions they are putting in place can last 6 months, not a total lockdown (of course). Either way, this is not what the author of that piece was referring to, he referred to ongoing lockdowns.

Please define serious lockdown

Please define serious lockdown
No gatherings larger than 6 people for starters.
I wonder what people who type "u" instead of "you" do with all their free time.

Sweden positives and deaths are slowly starting to trend up a bit the last few days so they are not necessarily out of the woods yet either.

Exactly. If we’re not closing the book on Denmark, the book on Sweden must remain open as well. As we see happening here, high levels of infection do not mean herd immunity so fast. And thus far, Denmark is light years ahead in terms of total and per capita infections, hospitalizations, and deaths.

Keep an open mind. The story is far from written yet. It will take years to tally up the cost of nursing home deaths, deaths from avoidance of preventive care and screenings due to lockdowns, psychological mortality and impacts, economic impacts the translate into mortality down the road, and so much more.

I think we can look at overall mortality in each country as a general number that we can rely on to compare mortality from all causes in the aggregate. Economic impact is also relatively easy to gauge. Psychological, not so much. I assume we’ll notice if there is a major variation between Sweden and Denmark, though.

The real question is going to be how much the pain of the first wave in Sweden will be offset by a potentially lighter second wave. It will definitely even out a bit, seeing as they've already killed off a decent amount of their high risk population.

Do you have a graph based on population? Sweden has close to double the population of Denmark.

Good point - it should always be normalized by population. Just checked and it looks pretty much the same. On mobile so perhaps you can post it -

Sweden has founded a committee to look at their neighbours answer to COVID and use them, basically quietly admitting Tegnell was wrong.
