He has a massive shot. Just name recognition is huge in an election people likely will have no clue who the other candidates are. Plus he's always been a great politician, gathering union and other major support bases in big numbers - not least of which included Chassidim.

He's also pro Yeshivah in a way many progressives are not, which is arguably the biggest issue facing the Jewish community locally at this point in time.
