Shopping at Costco last week, quite a few item were OOS or low stock. Seeing that I got some extra cheese just in case there will be a shortage come shavuos.

I spoke this morning to a grocery store manager in Williamsburg. Seems like many Kosher companies are having a hard time to make Kosher production even when it's local (especially in NY). They don't want to let anyone outside the company coming in.

Why aren’t commercial disinfectants + hazmat suits a solution to this? How often does a Mashgiach visit a factory?

They simply don't need the money from the Kosher production that they do usually. Most of food companies have more demand than supply. They are not interested in a side business even with a hazmat suit.

Milk and cheese are products that need a Mashguiach very often.
Other items will last till they finish the stock.

I stocked up on shelf stable food today. Best case scenario I will use it throughout the year. Put it away in a separate box so we dont use it now.

First and foremost, suppliers. We will be seeing many bankruptcies in that space. Some are losing money in the billion dollar range, and I don't mean lost profits.
Generators and utilities whose entire structure has been upended by all of the closed businesses and all of the houses in use. The regulators are going to have a difficult time dealing with many aspects of this.
