Food Shortage Coming?

Four weeks I’ve been waiting for someone to raise alarm bells about this isn’t there anything that can be done?
Be it government or unions etc. imposing regulations to treat food establishments like nursing homes or the like

Beef going up in price in the next few days

Many small specialty food companies are closing their doors which is hurting our company. Smaller beverage plants, nut roasters,  specialty bakeries, can't companies. Large bakeries (specifically those baking Staples such as bread), flour Mills , large beverage bottlers (especially those servicing hospitals- not so much for those servicing airlines/hotels- often it's the same company), cereal companies, dairies, etc are for the most part doing well.

Not sure about sukkos. But food basics might be a shortage in the next few weeks. Spoke today to a large distributor his words.

I went to a kosher supermarket today.  The shelves weren't full.  Some foods didn't have all the usual varieties available.

I work in th food industry. We are missing products from China that are hard to replace (price wise and other factors). For the other products I see a slight increase in demand but nothing we can't handle.

I visit most of Brooklyn's Kosher groceries every week, I see some items missing. We can expect all products from overseas where a Mashguiach is needed to fly to (a restricted country), to be oos which put some challenges to replace because we got use to the globalization (the way it should be).

I agree with you although there is another factor. Many truckers are sick, so companies cant deliver. Many warehouse employees, plant employees etc are in quarantine all resulting in lesser production.

Why are the shelves in Stop & Shop bare? That has nothing to do with Pesach.

On a short term scale though.
Before pessach I could've count 20% of the grocery stores workers (that I visit) calling sick. Now it's about 5%.

I hear from my local grocery guy that since Mr. Bertram from Bgan died theyre having issued with frozen food orders. And it showed. KRM freezers nearly empty.

Got yelled at by a russian man while waiting on line outside shoprite in Brooklyn the other day. Probably anti-Semitism because I was social distancing but talking to a guy behind me on line. All I could think about was he must know the rules of standing on line better than me. So I'm apparently a xenophobe now.

LOL I remember going to Russia 25 years ago and marveling at the empty shelves in the supermarkets.

I would think that as of now alot of the problem is supply chain disruptions not an actual shortage although specific items may be unavailable.

I noticed in BJ's the produce section is more than half empty but in the heimishe stores much less so.

Strikingly noticeable at Restaurant Depot the other day. Shelves empty and strict limits. Impossible for a Caterer/ Restaurant/ Grocery to shop...

Grow & Behold has been out of chicken, they sent an email today that they’re going to restock limited quantities this week. The way they phrased their notice about getting stock alerts and not being able to guarantee inventory made me think they’re getting very little inventory in, they basically said outright that they expect it to be sold out pretty quickly.
