Won’t they? Isn’t it a “near certainty” that they won’t get reinfected? Wouldn’t you, and others who have such a blase attitude toward the possibility of reinfection sign up for such a study in a heartbeat? Prove your point to the world!
Nothing in life is certain and nothing in life is risk free. Flying on a plane has some risk driving has even more but still a very minor risk. We try mitigating that risk as much as possible by driving responsibly etc..

While the assumption as of now in the scientific community is that you cannot get reinfected that is not 100%. Purposely trying to reinfect yourself is stupid. Relying on that to make a rational decision to ease up on quarantine especially in conjunction with basic precautions is very sensible. It's a question of mitigating the risk. Thing are never black and white.

I’m not sure what you mean. Of course it serves a scientific purpose. Finding out how immunity to this virus works.
You could also just simply glean that from the data that is coming out and not spend resources on a study that right now has no real need from a scientific standpoint.

Why do you keep saying there’s no real scientific need? Scientists want to know everything about this virus, and that is just about the most important thing to know about the virus right now

You do make a valid point. However, the attitude of many I know is that once you had it, you’re definitely “immune”, medical disagreement notwithstanding. That said, wouldn’t these people subject themselves to such a trial for pay and contribution to science? People do much riskier things in the name of research all the time

The topic of immunity is less important in the context of saving people’s lives.

It’s really, really not. Health workers can go to work once fully recovered with no PPE or fear of illness, volunteers can fill in other jobs once immune, nursing homes and the like can institute different policies, and most importantly, the beginnings of a vaccine and details of plasma treatment can start being looked at

Classic click beat fear inducing article. This is the strain that his hit the US. And there is no evidence or indication that this will make any difference in regards to immunity.

You’re largely right but it is still a point worth pondering, if it mutates that fast then it can mutate again in the future

The mutation was in one part of the virus (the “spikes” which make it more contagious”) coronaviruses do not mutate significantly.

It wouldn’t be a coronavirus if it had the ability to mutate significantly

What do you mean by "significantly"? It has and will continue to mutate. How much harder will these mutations be for a vaccine?
Only on DDF does 24/6 mean 24/5/half/half

Thank you.  Correct.  I am suggesting that since we have disrupted our lives so much and r"l sacrificed so many kedoishim, I think another couple weeks would be advantageous to continue helping the curve slowdown in hot spots, to slow down the curve in middle America, to wait for the supposedly soon to be out vaccine (?), and to hear the results of what the antibody test really means.  IOW, not to jump the gun just yet.

What you are asking of the American people is not a trivial thing, therefore it shouldn't be based on your feelings that day but rather on solid data backing up the fact that staying home for a few more weeks is justified.

Its worth pointing out to those that keep promulgating that this virus may mutate enough to render all of us who have had Covid19, and have fully recovered, that "you aren't really immune" and as such should modify our behavior accordingly. you are essentially saying that nothing is going to change for the next few years, and that only furthers the idea that we should just go about our daily lives as the cost remains the same.

Not at all, I literally said “you’re largely right but it’s a point still worth pondering” so I don’t know how you inferred anything from what I am “essentially saying”.
