I'm afraid the recent change to short links is the culprit. Short links are always more prone to be blocked.

If that is the case, and you changed the link to shorter to fit into the single message, this might be the cause for now GM blocking the whole thing. No?

The free Remind option is limited to 150 people. The paid plan can have 5k but you would need to reach out to them for a quote. Although its officially made for schools when they ask what school you're you can select not a school. It's possible the paid versions are only available for schools as intended.

Also if you put a link in a Remind text it makes it into a Remind link that forwards to your link IINM

It seems like the issue wasn't the 2 parts, but it blocking the part with the link.

I assume that a large percentage of people who SMS is there only option are either on flip phones or have a kosher smartphone that wouldn't necessarily allow the app. So although it may help some I don't think it should be the solution.

Which is why I think this makes more sense:

I would think that most people that texting is the only option don't either have a browser and when they see a deal they are interested in they go to the computer to find it (meaning they dont need the links in the text either way). So if Groupme will work better with no links (which I have my doubts about but I BH moved all my chats to Remind so I don't really know) then maybe you just need to send out a PSA that the groupme option will only be a notification without links and if you have a smartphone switch to a more reliable option.

Although not sure how that will work with you IFTT

Everything else was a fortune for sending out ~100,000 daily SMS.
Not really worth it when anyone with a smartphone can use Whatsapp, Telegram, or Twitter for free.

If you're sending 3 million messages a month, the providers will most definitely work with you on better pricing. I've seen reported discounts of up to 70% off

its not about coding or programming or hosting, its about the delivery that cost
the fcc is cracking down on spammers that put alot of pressure not to deliver random unverified blasts, the only legitimate way to broadcast sms is by paying
