United Airlines news
« on: May 05, 2020, 12:59:17 AM »
I looked around and I did not see a thread for United airlines news. Anyway, this one is crazy to me. Simple Flying posted this today
https://simpleflying.com/united-lax-long-haul-base/

But United Airlines is slashing its pilot workforce, and indicators are there won’t be any long-haul flying out of LAX for at least a year.

The news is being reported in Live and Let’s Fly. In that story, the writer asks whether United Airlines’ long-haul flying will ever return to Los Angeles. You’d be a brave punter to write off the chances of that. But the writer also raises the prospects of LAX losing its long-haul hub status. The chances of that happening are shorter.

Wild stuff! How the industry is changing!

I don't see UA writing off LAX or any hub long-term.
But clearly travel is going to be majorly hurting until there's a vaccine.

That's a medical prediction, not one of travel.
I predict travel will be strongly affected, but will gradually climb back to its original position, airlines on the other hand, well let's just says it's a loooong road.

Yeah, until there is a vaccine, as Dan said, many people will not get on flights, and there lies in the issue for airlines. Crazy that they took out LAX, far larger a hub than SFO, but that is life.

LAX is a much smaller UA hub than SFO.
