I heard that the Lakewood rabbanim are now advising couples to push off their wedding because the ppl who got married in the past few weeks are finding it very hard to start a new life together in such crazy circumstances with nowhere to go and nothing to do.

I can think of another reason to push off the weddings. Judging by the news reporting weddings seem to be the biggest instigator of aiva (much more than something else that was banned for a short time due to aiva that I don't want to mention by name lest this thread turn into a nonsensical mudslinging session).

Read the negative news reports featuring Lakewood and about 50% of them mention Weddings. Weddings were also mentioned by Governor Murphy and the NJ AG. The other unnamed activity has not been mentioned in the press to my knowledge.

I speak about Lakewood as the OP referenced Lakewood. This may not be the case elsewhere.

If by being a little more together its causing them difficulties to start life together then maybe they should reconsider who they are marrying.

If you really love your wife and are excited to get married then whats the problem?

Very Frum people who have minimal exposure to the opposite gender outside of immediate family might have a hard time suddenly confined 24/7 with a virtual stranger of the opposite gender. Not being able to have breaks/normal life/space to process that is a major/pivotal adjustment. Keep in mind that in those same circles marriages are arranged and “love” isn’t their primary motivator. It’s a continuum and the same is true on a milder scale for mainstream Frum people.

My thought arethat it’s a shallow thread not much to gain with the exception of getting sensational fantasies about family’s great or depressing lives. Good thing it got derailed!

Keep in mind that this isnt only staying home all day. Its much harder when you take into account the stress factor especially for freshly married couples.
