I don't think 2 week shifts are a huge ask for a steady paycheck. People do it every day. The military, the oil industry, many segments of the farming industry, anyone who works at sea... there are many more examples. The concept isn't a foreign one. No pun intended, but illegal and legal immigrants isolate from their families all the time. Either get them to do the work, or make the sacrifices they're willing to make.

With a 3-14 day official incubation period (and realistically potentially longer), 2-week shirts are not enough.

Are you against the stimulus checks, PPP and help to hospitals?

Stimulus checks in the way it was done? Yes. I think that giving people money and letting them spend it where they want is the hallmark of capitalism, but it's wrong for this situation. Vouchers for food and housing would have been better. Tax breaks for companies that figured out how to keep people employees safely would have been better. PPP with no vetting is a disaster. I know people who have made off like bandits with this thing. And those are small potatoes. This is worse than Bernie, because there's zero attempt, misguided or not, to try to balance the books here.

Hospitals are a different story. We've needed an overhaul for years. In a crisis, you have to save lives, so you do what you have to. But we need to rethink our healthcare system from the ground up.

2 week shifts with monitoring the other 2 weeks? I'm not trying to make the system completely foolproof. I'm trying to make it tenable without tripling costs.

It sounds like you are saying we just threw trillions out there with very little safeguards. If so I agree.

I look at this meat issue as I do with hospitals. Meat packing safety was been disastrous for years. It is as necessary like hospitals so do what is necessary to keep them going while treating the employees fairly.

While we are having this discussion I don't see the same with this administration. Will add to the blunder thread.  ;)
