I have 500k citiaadvantage miles.  It seems that going rate is pretty low for AA.  Someone suggested i keep them (use them myself), or sell them to people in who need a ticket fast as that is the best way to receive a higher selling price.  does anyone have suggestion which way to go?

thanks- i have gotten rates, but my question was really should i go the other way.
If i book with miles (for myself or family), i could get 6+ tickets to EY, very few blackouts.  $8k-$8.5k is close to the same equivalent (aside from the crazy low deals), but much more headahce.
i was told that selling in smaller amounts, could be better, but i dont know if its with the hassle with AA.  Thoughts?

Not sure who told you that, but you should get a second opinion on  that one.

I don't know if you mean to say award travel is a bigger headache, or the other option?  But, IMO, the other option is better (assuming the award travel is coach).  You will earn miles and have no worries about availability.

Does waiting a year or more help make an account more clean?

No, but my opinion is: use asap, that is to say on travel that is completed asap.

It doesn't mean that the account won't get frozen, but if it does, there are barely miles left in it.

That being said, after using asap the miles, open a new account, and stop collecting on the used one.

How do you do that if you collect through Citi?

It's possible once you churn.
Granted if you don't switch CC's you might not be able to do it.

You mean that you had a AA card w/ a FF number, and they allowed  you to change the FF number associated with the card?
I tried that for many many hours...

I was told by someone that had a issue. That he wrote them a letter that he was allowed to transfer it to a charity as per AA rukes and that is what he did and he has no idea what happened after that. he was not closed down.
