Going off topic, but I've always wondered why there's a such a strong inverse correlation between how yeshivish/chassidish you are and how long you keep your kids in carseats/booster seats?
I have had many similar questions over the years, one of them being why do the more yeshivish people tend to totally not believe in climate change (not just skeptical about the causes but just absolutely don't believe it ). From a sociological perspective the answer would probably be that religion and science to a large extent are both striving to answer the same questions whether existential, reasons and how did it happen etc. Which make religion and science inherently antagonistic towards each other, as such skepticism is very common. We can accept the proven "what happens" not the "whys". Car Seats to a large extent are relying on science/data and thus there is a disregard amongst those circles unless its obvious.
On a different note car seat laws for a large part I think are too much. Of Course data would show that its safer for children to sit in a car seat till they are six, as would data show that its safer for adults to sit in a car seat. The law in NJ is children have to be rear facing till 2 my children are infinitely happier facing forwards. There are benefits but it has to be weighed out. When I was a child we hated the parents in our car pool that made us wear a seat belt now my kids think you are crazy if you don't. Reality didn't change rather our perceptions did, it was not actively dangerous then nor is it now. The usual argument but it is safer is full of flaws.
