They may change their mind tomorrow or the next day.
Fwiw afaik every doctor has said from day 1 that anyone immunocompromised is higher risk...

C-section seems to be the default option in the US for anything they deem risky...
C-section seems to be the default option in the US for any excuse they could make up because they make a fortune off it.
I'm not who you think I am.

Pregnant women are at risk from seasonal flu.  Some types of seasonal flu cause bad pneumonia in pregnant women.  They should be sure to get the flu shot, as it may help them avoid getting the flu.

Correct, most practices mandate the flu shot if you’re expecting. Pregnant women are at elevated risk for many if not most illnesses. When my wife was expecting during the measles outbreak the doctors checked her for antibodies, and because her immunity seemed to have worn off from the vaccine they advised her not to teach for a few days until it blew over (they stopped allowing anti-vax kids into schools temporarily)

Honestly that was pretty much my point. Pregnant women are supposed to be cautious in general. This doesn’t really change much.

My wife had a baby in Maimonides 2 weeks ago, b”h everybody is healthy & all is good. I asked the nurse if they’ve had any issues with newborns or mothers & she said she hasn’t seen anything…

Mazel Tov!

Now I understand why you were worried about hysteria :)
If issues with newborns were as prevalent as you make it sound there would be a lot more reporting than over 3 months into the virus some random poster on an anonymous forum with a quote from an unnamed OB. Relax with the hysteria, it doesn’t help anybody.

Thank You

I try to take a levelheaded approach to whatever is going on. I did a lot of digging to see if there’s anything extra to worry about more than a regular pregnancy & literally came up with nothing. Your statement about 20% of newborns ending up in the nicu was a bit over the top & I’ve heard nothing before or after of anything remotely close to that…

By all means, I didn’t intend to cause worry. Ch’v. I was just reporting a DP to exhort caution.

Yup this whole thread was started with the intent of collating datapoints from our community (high pregnancy rate and high infection rate).

Women of reproductive age are more likely to require hospitalization and intensive care if they're pregnant, but it's not associated with a higher death rate.

B”H, over the summer,  Lakewood saw almost no Corona cases and went almost 3 months without a single hospitalization for new cases. However, it wasn’t truly a reprieve from COVID as we were dealing with the aftermath of the first wave – including recovered patients suffered later Covid-related repercussions including quite a few cardiac/clot-related and an unfortunate uptick in miscarriages.

one of my wifes friends had two early miscarriages (before 10 weeks)  so she went to check herself out and was told its due to clots.   she never had this issue. they did not blame covid, they blamed clots.  but from this it seems like its correlated

Did either of these women test positive for covid before the miscarriages?

Extremely.   I think it was back to back.  One was closer to 10 weeks and one was only a few weeks.  A few years back my wife experienced it at closer to 19 weeks so this friend felt like she can discuss it with my wife.   Very sad.

Did either of these women test positive for covid before the miscarriages?
I can find out. But Extremely exposed and not careful from day one thats for sure.

No actual test because it was when there where not enough test or very dangerous to get one.
She definitely had the virus but symptoms where relatively mild.
