Here's a whole setup, feeders included, for $30! Great deal or junk?

Is there any way to keep the starlings away?

By me it's the grackles. The starlings come once in a while.

We identified a new species today: the mourning dove. My wife is cracking up that I'm so excited to see a pigeon!

The most common dove in the US. As well as the most hunted gamebird.

We spotted a new species this morning! That is #40 confirmed!

Great Crested Flycatcher - Pretty sure it thought that the Tiki light wick was some sort of moth or insect and tried to eat it.

Groundhog babies

We have a few of those...
So then this happened on Shabbos...
My DD is minding her own business watching some groundhog babies running around when a Red Shouldered Hawk swooped down and killed it.
So it's sitting there holding the groundhog while 3 grackles? and a Blue Jay take turns dive- bombing it (not sure what the point was, the GH was quite dead)
They harassed it so much it flew away, but came back 30 minutes later to pick it up and have his shabbos lunch. (Still being harassed by the entourage)
He then moved to the Telephone wire so the entire neighborhood can watch
Was quite a show,
Chaim was busy sending faxes about the riot so we dont have photo evidence......

Have you had any luck at the mesh feeder? I tried nyjer seed in three types of feeder with no success.

I have a goldfinch that comes around every couple of days, sits at the top of the feeding station for a few seconds and takes off without eating.

    Here's the one I'm using now. https://www.amazon.com/dp/B000HHHEAA/ref=cm_sw_r_apa_i_HXy3EbGBQHDAJ

We have this one spot in the yard which apparently attracts birds to suntan in.

Gotta love a Blue Jay's colors... Truly incredible!

We have a finch sock (full of thistle) out for a couple of weeks now.

We had goldfinches eating for a about a week, and aside for a couple flybys, they haven't been back since.  :(

Luckily though, we have a male house finch which loves to eat from it when he stops by.

Maybe they want Walmart brand instead like @Something Fishy 's
