Pretty much all filler. I wouldn't recommend it.

I always mix black oil sunflower seeds into my mixes. That seems to be everyones favorite, and it can turn cheaper mixes into better ones. FWIU the sunflower ratio is usually the price difference on cheap blends.

So I built a DIY platform feeder this week, so far the birds - and chipmunks - seem to love it.

No mealworms?

No mealworms?

Didn't put them out today for some reason. Yesterday the chipmunk was eating them, which was weird.

I am using Droll Yankees feeder, I put mixed seeds in the feeding tray and it attracts a lot of birds like cardinals, finches...
The cardinals really like this feeder https://berkeleyrusticbirdhouses.com/best-bird-feeders-for-cardinals.

Now that I have a camera that works I can try to capture the 24 species that we've spotted over the last 6 months.

#1. Tufted titmouse (my most frequent visitor lately)

#2. Black Capped Chickadee
Where are you located?
If you are in NJ it's most likely a Carolina Chickadee not a black capped Chickadee

Monsey area. I'm certain it's blacked capped because it has two-note song rather than a four-note song

We've spotted at minimum between 10-15 new species within the last week and a half. (Gotta love migration!)

I will try to post pics, as soon as I can straighten them all out. (And have the time)

Fall warblers are extremely confusing to identify!

I won't leave you hanging without at least one for now though...

#46 Scarlet Tanager (I know its no breeding male plumage, but it is still pretty cool)

Here it is eating the berries from a tree right outside of our window. (Anyone know what kind of tree/berry this is?)

#3. White-breasted Nuthatch

On that note.. I thought it was pretty cool to see a Female White-breasted Nuthatch for the first time last week.

Up to this point we had only seen Males with the black head. The Females have a gray head.
