Species #56 is the Pine Siskin (I read online that they are an irruptive species this year, so i was expecting to see them eventually)

I don't think I would ID this bird. Looks too similar to so many others.
If you don't care why would you comment?

Haha! I hear that! It's actually pretty different looking in real life... (You can't really see the yellow in the pics, but was clear in person)

The sharp beak, and the one yellow streak on the wings are its biggest ID giveaways

Lol I remember our first grackle spotting... and to think we were actually excited to see it!  ;D

Now, not so much!

Actually yes, but he dons a bright orange crown when he's excited which we were lucky enough to get a quick glimpse of.

This is a stock photo.

I don't get how you ID these. This looks exactly like the ruby-crowned kinglet to me.

I don't get how you ID these. This looks exactly like the ruby-crowned kinglet to me.

ETA: I also have other pics I don't post which help in IDing.

I use the Merlin App to identify the birds we see and don't know ourselves. That said, there are many differences between this and the tiny Kinglets.

These confusing fall birds are harder for me because the Merlin App has a tougher time nailing it down to one species, and the pictures they show don't look 100% the same.

Here is a short article I found useful, which helps show some different things to look for when IDing birds.

Here is a Yellow-rumped Warbler we saw a few times in confusing fall plumage as well.
