Spotted two new species this week bringing our total species to 42!

#41) House Wren (Northern) - Confirmed the species from its song which is why we spotted it in the first place. It was here with 3 fledglings begging for food while jumping from tree to tree.

#42) Yellow-billed Cuckoo - Notice the caterpillar nest in the first image which I'm assuming is what attracted it here.

Check out the white circles on the bottom of his tail! Really cool!

We have seen many cute fledgling birds around these past few of weeks.

These Blue Jays are definitely one of the nominees for the cutest award! They remind me of baby penguins!

A delightful read.  I was LOL, envisioning this man trying to outwit his resourceful, unwanted guest.

I’ve had my bird feeder up since Sunday after Shavuos. Bought all the recommended foods - seeds, spicy and peanut suet, thistle, peanuts. So far I’ve only seen a house sparrow. They love the seeds, liked the peanut suet better then the spicy but they are eating it, and my peanuts and thistle are untouched. Besides moving, any suggestions

New species today: Northern Flicker!

Question for the pros. There are two woodpeckers that come to my feeder that I have identified as a downy woodpecker but they differ in size. One is about the size of a red bellied woodpecker and the other maybe half the size. Can they be the same species?
If you don't care why would you comment?

The larger one is most likely the Hairy Woodpecker

Still waiting for the elusive hummingbird and oriole.

What's type of squirrel guard? Does it work for squirrels?
