At least personally, the right did more practical damage. The left's knee-jerk responses were expected and gross, but the right went off the deep-end for me and many stayed there throughout.
Among people I know, they parroted talking points from the start that this was just the flu and that I was was causing panic for nothing. Many still think that way.

Look at the complete about face they did, look at how they buy Chinese propaganda, look at how Pelosi et al dealt with the stimulus, look at how they're mocking republican lawmakers when most Dems haven't fared much better.

The only reason why they may have been correct was because they picked a partisan line and it happened to be right, not because of any sort of humanity or keen insight.

Start a new thread for this, but I'm referring to all those who said things along the lines of "Believe all Women" and who felt Ford's account was enough to disqualify Kavanaugh, but are now saying we should wait for due process, or Tara Reade isn't reliable, even though she has more contemporaneous corroboration than Ford (Ford didn't have any at all). The NYT went as far as to say the media shouldn't be the ones to investigate, but the Dems should do it themselves. The hypocrisy would be astounding if we weren't already so used to it.

My tune has not changed but what you want to hear probably has. I have watched all major news outlets for a long time. It is easy to spot the BS from both sides. People equate talking heads with news, big mistake.

You have to separate actually reporting of the news with making news. When you look at the actual reporting from the left/right it is not that much different.

Firstly, you're switching topics. Secondly right and left both hate De Blasio. Thirdly, Fox is not the opposite of CNN. CNN is purportedly an unbiased news organization. Fox News is right-wing. MSNBC is left-wing. NYT, Washington Post, etc. are supposed to be fair. They are not supposed to be slanted. Huffington Post and Daily Wire are supposed to be slanted.

Since we brought up CNN, do you know that a CNN host famously contracted Corona Virus? Do you know that he was filmed emerging dramatically and emotionally from his basement quarantine for the first time in 2 weeks? Do you know that he was out biking in the middle of that supposed quarantine and had an altercation with another biker and a police report was filed? Imagine a right-wing media person lied so blatantly and dramatically it would be a story. But not only wasn't he called out, it's not even a story at all! If you don't follow right-wing media, you don't know about it.

And that reaction is thanks to the politicians and media of today.

I really enjoyed Bush as a President. He always seemed above the fray and was very respectful. I know people hated him then, too, but I didn't really get why.
