You called me out for FL not closing down beaches/bars for spring break. You claim I did that because it was a R governor and Mardi Gras was a D governor.
That had nothing to with it. One was in February and the other in April. Now you going man up and apologize?

It's like, close parks because people dont know how to SD, lock them up for 3 months, they learnt how to SD, now you can go to the park.

You basically saying, a big prescheduled 1 time event should close 100's of miles of beach indefinitely.

For those that think such events are not a good idea, they should ban large gatherings and events. Dont shut down 100's of miles of beach indefinitely.

For those that think it's safe, let it continue, it so happens to be for a young age group [most ppl attending ]  the virus is not so deadly as portrayed by many. Older ppl can shelter in place.

An example, a cemetery  in NJ shut down on a day when they were expecting many visitors, other days they were open.

Isn't this what America is about, freedom, restrict the least possible.

Spring break was not a "blunder." It was cold, calculated, and deadly. DeSantis knew that spring break would bring much needed money to a state that was already mostly shut down. He also knew that with a 7-14 day incubation period, none of those poor dumb kids would be his problem once they got sick, because they'd be back home. This really belongs cross-posted in the disillusionment thread.

Fact of the matter is, the beaches did close. After spring break. They didn't keep them open because they thought it was safe. It was purely done based on the state's internal CBA.

In hindsight, everyone has 20/20. Even for those that didn't see clear for those first few days, currently there is no excuse for Government not to open up as much as health, moral and legality demands.

If parks are open then why not beaches, oh beaches can be open but only on xxx date, because “The Jersey Shore, after all, is where memories are made," "The last thing any of us wanted was a summertime down the shore to be a memory." Governor Murphy NJ.
If its safe with limitations on May 22 then why is it not safe today.
That's the America of today.

Here's the thing people miss about Florida. The locals have all stayed home. All those people coming from hotspots? When someone gets sick in FL, but they are a resident of another state, it doesn't count towards our numbers. They count the infection on the home state's numbers. Florida's numbers look great, but the truth is a lot murkier.
