You ever live in a small town with a major employer? The employer is the town!

I actually have experience working in a large company in a small town (4800). The company brings in alot of seasonal and out of town employees from other facilities. Let's just say there was a lot if resentment from many if the residents. I'm not sure why the company continues to operate this way. This sentiment

in small town livin, a major employer is often looked at as a separate entity from the rest of the people, eg. "Oh, he's a ..... guy."
