You'll be surprised how many things can be missed. I doubt anyone notices all the little details I updated...
i know someone who edited a ukrainian pcr, but by mistake used a positive test!
i know someone else who came to tlv and handed in his preprepared postdated pcr for his return from new york...

Can someone explain this to me?
Israel was allowing in people (1st degree relatives etc.) who showed a positive & then negative Corona test.
That means they recognize natural immunity.
If so, why don't they just allow anyone in - vaccinated or not - and just test for antibodies upon landing?

No. Opening for vaccinated only.
OP is asking why not for all recovered, that are equally immune.

If I continue scratching my head on that one then my fingers may end up penetrating my skull so I think it's time to stop now.

Officially, the required wait time which is 2 weeks, iirc.
Israel issues the green pass 1 week after Pfizer second dose

A couple of weeks ago I got a call from an Israeli client (who purchased travel insurance from me) asking about coverage for COVID tests for his return flights from NY. I explained that no insurance covers COVID tests which are not medically necessary, and then told him that he can find places that will do the test for no charge. He responded by saying (paraphrasing) "when I left Israel the travel agent took care of everything, he sent me the COVID test along with the ticket. Don't they do the same here?"

Actually, I'm questioning the inherent inconsistency.

But does that mean a tourist can get the 2nd shot a week before arriving in Israel?
There can be inconsistencies, as noted above regarding immunity.

At this point it wouldn't surprise me one bit if the only reason for the testing requirement has to do with pressure on the government from the testing companies.

what's the best way to get approval for first degree relative at this point?
submitted application request to both Washington and NY consulate last week with no response yet
misrad hapanim Jerusalem seems to indicate on their website to send application via email only?

From here:

https://chaimvchessed.com/updated-information-permission-for-relatives-to-enter-israel/

Documentation of recovery or vaccination certificate for all applicants, including children from the age of six. Proof of Recovery: Present a positive Covid test followed by a negative Covid test. It does not matter how long ago or how much time elapsed between the tests. Alternatively, submit a formal letter on official letterhead of hospital /medical center signed by a Dr., attesting that the traveler had Covid and is now recovered from Covid. (Serological results alone are not accepted as proof for applying for an entry permit.)

Would this work for non-vaccinated tourists to enter after July 1?

@ae123 Nothing has been implemented at all regarding regular tourists yet. This whole July 1st talk is just based on a letter that Deri wrote. Nothing has been changed yet in terms of policy.

Very true.

Nothing official yet, so with that in mind:

'Vaccinated tourists coming from “white countries” will be able to enter Israel without the requirement of undergoing a serological test, according to the current outline the Health Ministry is working on, a health official said Tuesday'
