The mask issue is just not one I don't understand. Didn't anyone just use common sense?

There is a reason why President Trump was criticizing the CDC pretty strongly toward the beginning of this crisis. (not that he's doing a good job either but he was right on this one).

In hindsight you could easily blame someone for not reacting the right way. If the virus wouldn’t have turned out as bad as it did those people would Have  told us how we shouldn’t have been so serious about it.

This. And not only that, but as soon as they started recommending it, more and more business pivoted to producing them (esp the washable kind).
