Credit Card for 18 Year Olds
« on: May 12, 2020, 11:15:50 AM »
My oldest kid just turned 18 and I was wondering if there are any credit cards recommended for an 18 year old to start building their own credit history. I had added him to my Amex cards as an authorized user when he turned 15 but figured it was good to have him get his own card, if possible. He's a high school senior so he doesn't have much income. During normal times he does groups in shul and makes about $100 a month from that. But he doesn't really have any other income.

Or does it make more sense to just wait until he's 21?

Capital one platinum or discover
If he is denied try going for a secured card.

CFU, definitely one of the better ones for a newbie! But you need decent credit and some history to prove you have responsibility.
