That let their employees go and can't get them back?
Yes.
So each employee is committing fraud by saying “I did not turn down any job offers this week”?

Many of my clients are having this issue.  And one by one we are fighting the unemployment claims.  My client shelled out money for two months until PPP so his employees can be ok financially.  And now when he got the PPP a few employees decided that PUA is a better paying job.
Thoughts?

Will they have jobs to come back to when PUA runs out?
Workflowy. You won't know what you're missing until you try it.

Employees of many businesses are facing a pay cut for returning to work, as UI with the extra $600 is more than many people make at work. Are you saying someone is lazy if they don’t work for free, or even take a pay cut to do so? They’re essentially paying to do work.
Now I see what the problem is.

Anyone who looks at this as working for free or taking a pay cut is the problem. You are out of work because of this virus. Hopefully you were made whole or close to whole. The D's took it further and some were made more than whole. Now if they call you back to your job and you refuse because you feel you are working for free or paying them to work you are not lazy. You are a lazy SCUMBAG!!!
This was harsh and was meant that way to make a point. There will be those in the low income bracket where it will be a hard decision.

Those are the ones I feel bad for.

I have no problem with that. Hopefully the employees do the right thing when/if he is able to take them back.
Ok, now that you had that little thought process did you finally get to what I was saying? Anyone who would be taking a pay cut by going back to work is automatically a lower income employee, else they wouldn’t be taking a pay cut for returning. You’re calling them a lazy scumbag for not making less money to support their family so that they can work, plus they will be putting themselves and their families at elevated risk. Is that really lazy, or just pragmatic and prudent?

If you actually agree with me by now, you should probably take back your harsh reply.

My harsh reply was meant for those in similar situations to my kids. I clarified it because I didn't want it to taken that I meant all.

Just to add one point: people who work to support families are now home taking care of their families, which may be harder work than working at their actual jobs.

https://otda.ny.gov/news/2020/2020-05-12.aspFrom what I understand, it's $420 per child in addition to the grab and go...Whoever that lives in a democratic state, and is working for a living, is just plain stupid.

I think this bill is ridiculous for other reasons. We've seen how detrimental the additional $600 FPUC payments have been. Extending this til Jan '21 will not allow even for a V shaped recovery...
At first I thought the 600 was thought thru fully but was allowed to pass because they needed this done quickly. Now that they had 2 months, I'm pretty sure it's just advancing a socialist agenda.
I'm not who you think I am.

Don't agree. If they controlled the senate also this would pass. They actually want this but they know it is a win win for them.

You're probably right that they really want it, but adding $3T to national debt overnight is breathtakingly irresponsible and insane. This package is a complete giveaway with no connection to any payback plan. The US is likely to default in the coming years with or without additional stimulus packages but I don't want to see anyone leaning on the throttle.

Come again?

Gladly.

At the present moment the US national debt is extremely cheap to service due to low interest rates. When interest rates get around to rising, servicing the national debt will become impossible.

There are only 3 ways to get rid of the debt. Growth, inflation, default. Growing our way out of it is not going to happen; look at GDP numbers and budget deficits. Inflation is a possible, but that much inflation would turn the US economy into Zimbabwe or the Weimar republic. So defaulting actually starts to look attractive.

option 4: sell long term debt locking interest rates.
